Au pair in France: an affordable stay
Being an au pair in France, you will get full board and lodging, and receive weekly pocket money (min. 80€). This program is therefore a good alternative to a traditional language stay in France.
We make sure that families respect IAPA quality au pair placement guidelines. They will also subscribe for your health and liability insurance.

How to become au pair in France?

Program conditions:
As an au pair in France, you will be/get:
- Full board and lodging.
- Clean single room.
- Pocket money: minimum 80 € per week.
- In charge of children and daily domestic tasks, from 25 to 30 per week.
- Off-duty 1 to 2 days a week.
- On vacation for 1 week after 6 months of stay.
- Free time to take French classes.
A Typical Day for an Au Pair in France
- 6:30 am: Children wake up.
- 7:00 am: Breakfast and preparation for school.
- 8:00 am: Let’s go to school.
- 8:30 am: Children dropped off at school.
- 9:00 am: Back home, tidy up the kitchen, living room and children’s rooms.
- 11:30 pm: Beginning of French course.
- 1 pm: Lunch time with classmates.
- 3 pm: Back home.
- 4:30 pm: Pick children up after school, snack and homework.
- 6 pm: Showers and pyjamas, play with children.
- 7 pm: parents are back home. Free time.
When and Where to Go?
Most of our host families are looking for an au pair for the whole school year. Au pair placements in France are also available during the year, for candidate available at least until the end of the school year. Some placements are available during the summer (minimum of 2 months).

Wherever your au pair stay in France will be organised, we always remain available for you.
Who can be au pair in France?
You can become an au pair in France if you are/have:
- 18 to 28 years old.
- Pre-intermediate French level and Intermediate English.
- Minimum 50 hours experience.
- 2 childcare experience (out of your own family).
- Driving license and experience preferred.
- Availability of at least 6 months.

Program fees
- Supplement to help issuing your visa (Non-EU citizens): 495 €.
- Online registration below:
- Program fees to be paid in 3 steps:
- Deposit of €150 before the interview, refunded in case your application will not be accepted (excluding €75 administrative fee).
- 50% of the remaining fees charged when starting the search and balanced at placement confirmation stage (please see guidelines below).
- REFUND YOUR PROGRAM AFTER THE FIRST MONTH (get full board and lodging and at least 320 € per month).
- Our programs abroad are 100% guaranteed. We only accept candidates we can place.
- Please note that additional fees will be charged for last minute registration (see conditions below).
Global budget
Here some information about additional budged needed to be au pair in France:
- Flight: From 300 to 1500 € on average depending on your departure.
- Insurance: from 50 € per month.
- Visa : around 400 €.
- French classes : prices depend on schools (mandatory for non-eu citizens and if your level of French is below B2).
Even if this program remains one of the most advantageous solutions to live in France, we recommend you start your stay with some savings and prepare your budget in advance for a better experience.
The French immigration services may also ask you for a proof of funds available on your bank account.
