The “Au pair in Italy” program will cost you much less than a traditional language stay. Our host families in Italy will provide you with free accommodation. You will also get free meals, as well as a minimum of 80 € per week. 

In exchange of these advantages, you will help the family in their daily life (childcare and light housework).

Au Pair in Italy Program conditions:

As an au pair in Italy, you will be/get:

  • Full board and lodging.
  • Clean single room.
  • Pocket money: minimum 80 € per week.
  • In charge of children and daily household chores, around 30 per week.
  • 1 or 2 baby-sitting evenings per week.
  • Off-duty 1 to 2 days a week.
  • On vacation for 1 week after 6 months of stay.
  • Free time to take Italian classes.

     

     

     

A Typical Day for an Au Pair in Italy

 

  • 6:45 am: Children wake up.
  • 7:00 am: Breakfast.
  • 8:00 am: Let’s go to school.
  • 8:30am: Children dropped off at school.
  • 9:00 am: Back home, tidy up the kitchen, living room and children’s room.
  • 11:30 pm: Beginning of Italian classe.
  • 3 pm: Lunch time with classmates.
  • 4:30 pm: Pick children up after school, snack and homework.
  • 6 pm: Showers and pyjamas, play with children.
  • 7 pm: parents are back home. Free time.

When and Where to be au pair in Italy?

The most favorable times to join the program to be au pair in Italy are September and January. Ideally, you should start your search a few months in advance. However, you can become an au pair in Italy at any time of the year. Some summer placements are also available every year.

Who can be au pair in Italy?

You can become an au pair in Italy if you are/have:

  • 18 to 28 years old.
  • EU citizen.
  • Pre-intermediate Italian level and Intermediate English.
  • Minimum 50 hours experience.
  • 2 childcare experience (out of your own family).
  • Driving license and experience preferred.
  • Availability of at least 6 months.
  • Flexible, patient and able to adapt easily to a new culture.

Program fees

  • Online registration below:
  • Program fees to be paid in 3 steps:
  • Deposit of €150 before the interview, refunded in case your application will not be accepted (excluding €75 administrative fee).
  • 50% of the remaining fees charged when starting the search and balanced at placement confirmation stage (please see guidelines below).
  • REFUND YOUR PROGRAM AFTER THE FIRST MONTH (get full board and lodging and at least 320 € per month).
  • Our programs abroad are 100% guaranteed. We only accept candidates we can place.
  • Please note that additional fees will be charged for last minute registration (see conditions below).

Global budget

Here some information about additional budged needed to be au pair in Italy:

  • Flight: From 300  to 1500 € on average depending on your departure.
  • Insurance: from 50 € per month.
  • Italian classes: prices depend on schools.
