Conditions of our internships in Spain
As with most internships abroad, the following conditions apply:
- Internship opportunities in your field of study or experience.
- 35 to 40 hours per week.
- Two days off per week (usually on weekends).
- Accommodation arranged in residence/hostel or with a host family.
- Participation requires at least an intermediate level of Spanish.

When and where to Go in Spain?
Our internships in Spain are available for a duration of 2 to 6 months. Most internships are arranged in Madrid, but we also offer opportunities in Barcelona and Valencia.
However, to ensure a placement in your desired field, we recommend staying flexible with your destination.
Our agents in Spain
Several Work Overseas team members are based in Spain, particularly in Madrid and Valencia.
This means you will have access to a local agent who will be available during the whole duration of your internship in Spain.
Eligibility Requirements
You can apply for an internship in Spain if you meet the following criteria:
- Aged between 18 and 30 years old.
- Available for a duration of 2 to 6 months.
- Must be a student and able to sign an internship agreement with your school/university. If not, we can recommend an organization that provides internship agreements (expect a fee of around €500 for registration).
- Early application required for internships longer than 3 months (NIE registration is necessary – last-minute placements are not available).
- Spanish level B1/B2 minimum or willing to take Spanish courses before departure or on-site.
- EU citizen (or holder of a Schengen visa).
- Motivated, flexible, positive, and dynamic attitude.

Program fees
Additional fees:
- Additional fee for a paid internship 200 € per month: One-time fee of €250. This option is only available for students who apply at least 4 months in advance, for a 6-month internship, with prior experience in the requested field and an advanced level of Spanish (C1/C2).
- Or, for a Paid Internship at Minimum Wage (internship stipend or refund of expenses): One-time fee of €495. This option is only available for students who apply at least 6 months in advance, for a 6-month internship, with at least 6 months of experience in the requested field and a proficiency level of Spanish (C2).
- Additional fees apply for last-minute applications (see detailed guidelines available for download below).
- Most internships abroad remain unpaid. However, you can request a paid internship if you meet the conditions detailed above.

- Program fees to be paid in 3 steps:
- Deposit of 150 € before the interview, refunded in case your application will not be accepted (excluding 75 € of admin. fee).
- 50% of the remaining fees charged when starting the search and balanced at placement confirmation stage (please see guidelines below).
- 50% of the remaining fees at the start of the internship search.
- Final balance upon confirmation of placement (see detailed guidelines available for download below).
- Our placement agency is fully committed to finding you an internship in Spain and offering verified accommodation options. Internship remuneration is not guaranteed. Our priority is to secure high-quality internships that allow participants to gain valuable experience and improve their Spanish.
Other expenses
Here some information about additional budged needed to prepare your internship in Spain:
- Travel: Between €150 and €400 on average.
- Insurance: Around €50 per month.
- Accommodation: Starting from €40 per night, excluding meals (full payment required before departure).
- Security deposit: Expect an average €500 deposit, refundable at the end of your stay.
- Housing reservation fee: €100.
Although this program guarantees that your internship will start upon arrival, we recommend planning a leisure budget to make the most of your experience in Spain.
