Why become a Host family and rent a room out to one of our international students?
Our candidates are young students or workers available for a few weeks for a cultural, linguistic or professional experience (work placement, language course, seasonal job, etc.), or their accompanying teachers (leaders).
They have been selected and prepared to respect the rules of family life. Their identity has also been checked.
By hosting our international students, here are your advantages:
- You will receive additional income from renting out one or more rooms in your home for an average period of 2 to 8 weeks. You will not have to deal with all inquiries or frequent changes of tenants, as it would be the case with Airbnb.
- Your family will have the possibility to live a unique human, cultural and linguistic experience: our applicants are mainly young foreigners coming from Europe, Asia, Australia and the United States.
- We remain available during the whole stay to assist both families and guests.
Who can become a host family ?
If you meet the following conditions, we would be delighted to connect you with our candidates:
- Your family is interested in a cultural exchange. We offer much more than just room rental. Our candidates will be curious to learn more about your culture.
- You have one or more rooms (outbuilding/studio on your property) available.
- You live close to public transports and no more than an hour from the city center.
Who are our tenants?
Our applicants are young students or graduates looking for a room to rent with a host family for an average period of 2 to 8 weeks. Some applicants are available for up to 6 months. They will be travelling for professional, linguistic or cultural reasons, mainly from Europe, Asia, Australia and the United States. Some students apply individually.
They are generally over 18 (sometimes 16 if travelling in a group and accompanied by a teacher as part of an Erasmus-type stay).
Others come as part of a group organized by their school and will be accompanied by their teachers. Some teachers taking training courses may also apply to rent a room with one of our partner host families.
How to get started?
FREQUENT QUESTIONS
What types of property are eligible?
To host one of our students or young graduates, you will need to provide at least one room (min. 9m2) with a window, a single or double bed with a good quality mattress and a small desk. Larger rooms could accommodate several students. Rooms with en-suite facilities and outbuildings/studios on the property are also eligible. For this kind of properties, the priority will be given to teachers/leaders.
How much will host families be paid?
The amount paid will depend on the number of nights rented and the services offered (bed & breakfast, half board, full board). A price list will be emailed to you.
As an example, a family renting a shared room for 30 days to 2 students, on a full board basis will receive 1620 € (2025 prices).
What to offer your guests?
We ask our partner host families to offer their guests a clean and comfortable room, a warm welcome, assistance when needed and preparation of meals when booked. A family activity to share with your guests, for example once a week, will be also appreciated, although this will be only optional. We also ask families hosting guests on a full-board basis to share one family meal a week (usually on a Saturday evening or Sunday lunchtime). We will send you a guide to help you organizing the arrival of your guests.
Do I have to prepare meals for my guests ?
You are free to decide whether or not to offer meals to your guests.
